Laxton is a small village in the midlands, dating from 1066.

Nowadays visitors can see the castle site at the northern edge of Laxton, and witness the best preserved motte and bailey castle in Nottinghamshire.

You can also see the lovely, and attractive, village church which dates back to the 12th century and is still regularly used.

Nevertheless, what makes the village of Laxton Nottinghamshiretruly special is its use today of the open farming system.

The village is the last working open field system in Europe and one can meander the village by yourself or take a tour with a local, which we will organise if you so wish.

In the centre of Laxton is the pub where you can enjoy fantastic value, local ales, and amiable locals who’ll gladly tell you a tale or two.

The Goat House is int he centre of the village and goes back over 200 years.
